The bottom width measures 6 across and rests on railings 5.5? wide and larger with no overhang. Stabilizers are provided which can be attached to the bottom to brace against posts and uprights. To secure the Rail Planter insert the stabilizers at the desired spacing and gently pound in with a rubber mallet.
